Patriots News · XC looks to defend team titles at City Champions

Last fall the Truman High Cross Country teams both made a splash at the City Championships by winning in sound fashion over the field on both sides. This year, the boy’s team returns with a strong front led by Senior Josh Nunn, Jack Getman, and John Crump. The varsity is joined by returning letterman Kolby Cook & Myles McConnell coming back from recent toe surgery. The varsity will have a new face with newcomer Caleb Nunn making his first varsity high school XC appearance for the Patriots. Last year, Jack Getman was 2nd in the race, and the year prior Josh Nunn was 2nd overall. Those two along with John Crump look to be in the hunt for the overall win. In the Boy’s JV, the team is led by Danny Yothphoy looking for his first career victory and pushing for a future spot on the Varsity squad. He is joined by teammates Zander Nichols, James Wisely, Hayden Kunkel, and Owen Williams. On the girls side, the team is led by returners Jewelia Nichol and Molly McClung along with the talented newcomer Jayda Cisco with her fellow Freshman teammate Madeline McGregor. Both Jayda and Madeline will be opening up there high school careers with their first Varsity race. Both teams look to reclaim and defend their team titles from last year in the season opener.
