Patriots News · Girls Varsity Basketball Tournament to be named in honor of Pete Hile


The Truman Girls Varsity Basketball Tournament has been named in honor of Pete Hile.  Coach Hile is a member of the MO-Kan Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.  His 1981 team won the State Championship and his teams went to the final four three other times, finishing 2nd in 1982 and 3rd in 1980 and 1998 .  Coach Hile won  8 Conference Championships and 9  District Championships in addition to the State record.  He had an overall record of 391-137.  Coach Hile is retired from coaching and teaching but continues to assist in the athletic department at Truman to this day.

2020 will mark the 42nd consecutive year that Truman High School will have hosted this girls varsity tournament.  Pictured with the board approved recognition is current Truman Girls Basketball Coach, Steve Cassity.
